Join us - Membership Requirements & Training

Membership in Porcupine Plain Search and Rescue requires the following:

  • All members must obtain a Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Sector  - renewable every 3 years.
  • Members must be present at a meeting to pay their yearly dues, and attend at least 2 meetings/year
  • Members shall agree to take Basic Searcher training within a year of joining ( Basic Searcher is  valid for 3yrs and you must have this training before you will be added to our "call-out" list

If you meet the minimum training requirements, and comply with the membership requirements you will be added to our "call-out" list.  We encourage all volunteers to exceed the min. training of basic searcher, and offer opportunities to attend further training.  See our Calendar for upcoming training opportunities and Contact Us for further information.

Some of the training available to members is Map & Compass ,GPS use, Tracking,
Area Confinement, Grid Searching, Team Leader, Search Manager, Incident Command
System, CISM( Critical Incident Stress Debriefing), Wilderness First aid - CPR w/AED ,
Confined space rescue, Swift Water and Ice Rescue Training, Urban Rescue and Rope Rescue.
PPSAR also has access to First Responder Training through our local EMS.
